"W.O.R.D. Worldly Overrated Racial Defenders" is a comic book series produced by Vigilante Comics during the Initial Era. It was written and drawn by Matt Forrestall. Only one issue was released. It featured the superhero team W.O.R.D.

Issue #1 (August 1992)[]
W.O.R.D. #1
On the cover, besides the members of W.O.R.D. are McSpidey who says "Hey, this isn't the Adventures of Sprinkes! Oh my..." and Plenisher who says "Look for us in W.O.R.D. #2".
The title of the story is "We be Word Part 1". It starts with a storm erupting. A young Asian man, later identified as San Dinh Shortz, is playing a video game (Street Fighting II), exclaiming "Yes, here I come, Bisond", talking to a character in the game. The building is struck by lightning, and San gets hit with the zap, which gives him powers. He can transform himself into a fire breathing dragon. He now calls himself Kenpo.
Over in Store 94, the clerk, Habib Alakazam is trying to sell Beef Jerky to a man who only wanted Merlboro cigarettes. On the counter is a box of Sprinkles trading cards. When he touches the microwave, Habib gets zapped by the strange storm and is given the power to heat food in his hands. He calls himself Burrito Man.
Meanwhile two other friends, Leroy Pitch and Marvin Cabomba discuss how they were zapped. Leroy while he was touching his boombox, and now he has the power to rap really loudly. He calls himself M.C. Rap (although this character's name later changes to M.C. Jammer). Marvin got zapped while in his low rider, and now he knows all about weapons and fighting. He calls himself Sombrero (even though he doesn't wear one).
Kenpo and Burrito Man then show up at Leroy's apartment and share their similar news - newly gained powers and superhero names. Sombrero says that God has given them powers and it's up to them to stop evil from spreading. They decide to form a superhero team, and that Kenpo is their leader.
This issue marks the first appearances of the team W.O.R.D. as well as all of its members.
The teaser for issue #2 is that W.O.R.D. would fight the Plenisher, but issue #2 was not produced.
